How does automatic lice counting work?
Aquabyte LICE uses artificial intelligence to analyse images from the camera in the pen and automatically count lice. The system distinguishes between adult female lice, mobile and stationary stages, as well as Caligus (sea lice). In the User Portal, you get access high-resolution images with clearly marked lice detections, making it easy to review the results and trust the quality of the counts.
Forecasts up to two weeks ahead make it easier to plan measures and keep lice pressure under control.

Optimise lice treatments
The combination of daily counts and development forecasts makes it possible to plan the right measures at the right time. With detailed insight into the lice situation and its trends, treatments can be planned more intelligently to maintain optimal control of lice levels. This can help reduce the overall need for delousing and minimise the negative impact on fish welfare.

Aquabyte User Portal provides access to high-resolution images of fish with lice clearly marked, and you can zoom in for closer inspection.

More accurate – less resource-intensive
With Aquabyte LICE, you receive accurate, automated counts with consistent results over time. Without manual handling, the strain on both fish and staff is reduced, while data quality increases.

See what's coming
Aquabyte LICE is the only automated lice counting system that provides forecasts for future lice development. Based on historical data, trends, and the current lice status, it calculates the probability of exceeding the permitted lice threshold one and two weeks into the future.

Holistic decision support
When data from LICE is combined with WEIGHT and WELFARE, you gain a complete picture of the production. By connecting lice counts with growth and welfare status, you can plan harvesting more intelligently and make more targeted decisions. The result is lower costs, improved fish welfare, and a higher SUP share at harvest. Aquabyte LICE has been developed in close collaboration with fish farmers and in accordance with current regulatory requirements in several countries.
